Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP)

Our Mission

is to provide comprehensive treatment to maximize functional independence, to enhance quality of life, and to assist the participant to regain his/her role as an active and useful member of society.

Program Overview

The James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP) provides services for participants with stroke, amputation, orthopedic conditions, debility and other disabilities.

Program Description

Participants receive a thorough interdisciplinary evaluation and individualized treatment. Participants and family members are actively involved in the planning and treatment process. This is accomplished through team meetings with participants and family members, education and training from therapists, counseling and support groups.

Admission Criteria for the CIIRP

  • Medically Stable
  • Not ventilator dependent
  • Has potential to participate in and benefit from a comprehensive rehabilitation program
  • Able to be managed safely on the rehabilitation unit

Participants may be admitted to the CIIRP for any of the following reasons:

  • Physical impairments limiting functional activity
  • Functional impairments requiring assistance in self-care, mobility, thinking skills, use of adaptive equipment, energy conservation, or safety techniques.
  • Medical complications resulting in decreased function
  • Limited or no previous access to a full range of comprehensive rehabilitation services.

-Amputee 18 Patients Served-

  • 83% discharged home after rehab
  • Average length of stay: 24 days
  • FIM Change: 23.8 points
  • National benchmark: 17.3 points
