COVID-19 Vaccines for Community

The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough) and the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital & Clinics (VA) have partnered to expand COVID-19 vaccine availability through a formal FEMA Mission Assignment. Using vaccines provided by DOH-Hillsborough, the VA will be able to provide vaccine to the community. The Tampa VA will contact Veterans and family members who meet the criteria to schedule an appointment for the vaccine.
Veterans and family members who meet the criteria below can also visit our Eventbrite registration pages at Tampa VA Events | Eventbrite to schedule vaccination appointments.

Community members who meet State of Florida Guidelinesand who are:

  • A Veteran NOT currently enrolled (not currently a patient receiving care in the VA), or
  • A family member of ANY Veteran - patient of VA or not
  • A family member of a VA employee    

WHERE & WHEN: Vaccines will be administered at a drive-through clinic during announced timeframes.

Q1. Do I need to bring anything with me?
A1. Yes, please bring or show your proof of registration you received from the Tampa VA invitation for vaccination.

Q2. What else do I need to know?
A2. Please wear a short-sleeve shirt that allows access to the injection site. You must not have received a vaccine within 14 days of getting the COVID-19 vaccine, including for: flu, shingles, tetantus, hepatitis, etc. For more information about the COVID-19 vaccine, visit the CDC's website at:

Q3. Am I taking away a vaccine from a Veteran?
A3. No, the VA has sufficient and separate allocation of vaccines to eventually offer one to every Veteran enrolled in our system.
