Health Information @ Your VA Library

The Patient's Library

Come visit the Library at the VA and see everything we have!

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

While the best sources for your health concerns and questions are your providers (doctors, nurses, etc.), your Librarians can help you find extra information about your health issues from books, online sources, videos and handouts. We have many topics of special interest to our Veterans and their families, such as diabetes, PTSD, heart disease, disabilities, care giving, spinal cord injury, brain injury, stress management and much, much more.

Public Access Computers

Nine computers are set aside for Veterans in the Patients’ Library. You can sign up for My HealtheVet, check your e-mail, apply for jobs, un-employment, food stamps, or write letters, resumes, etc.

Check Out Our Online Resources!

Visit our Patient Education site to see “Health & Wellness Resource Center” database, eBooks, and the online catalog. E-readers are also available to check out for use with our  e-resources.

Veterans’ Health Library, where Veterans, families, caregivers can have direct access to VHA approved health information & education (1500 handouts and 150 videos)

Other Services We Offer

Take advantage of the books and DVDs in our Career Center to help you prepare for a new job. Relax as you wait for appointments, read a magazine or newspaper, or take a look through our general fiction and non-fiction collections.

Your Library Staff...

Are trained Librarians who are here to help you. We can research your request while you wait, or mail/email the information to your home. You can come in to the Library, call us at 972-2000 ext. 6571, or email  us at to ask questions.

Everybody is welcome to come in and use our resources within the library - Veterans, family members, employees, volunteers, and visitors. Inpatients may check out materials (your wristband is your library card). All materials must be returned before you are discharged. Outpatients who are coming to the hospital at least once every 2 weeks for appointments can get a library card signed by their doctors, nurses or therapists to check out materials. Please ask  the Library staff for the Library Card application form.
