Postgraduate Year (PGY2) Infectious Disease - Pharmacy Residency Program

Program Goal: Resident will learn the role of a specialized pharmacist in an Infectious Diseases practice setting within a tertiary care teaching hospital and clinics.

  • Inpatient Infectious Disease consult service           
             Patient populations include:
    • Intensive are areas (Surgical, Medical, Cardiac)
    • Internal medicine
    • Long-term Care, Spinal Cord, Polytrauma
    • Surgery
    • Oncology
  • Antibiotic Stewardship Program
    • Utilize Theradoc® Software
    • Committee leadership
  •  Outpatient Infectious Disease clinics 
    • HIV, HBV, and HCV drug management
    • NTM (Non-TB mycobacterial) lung disease
    • Chronic infections
  •  Electives
    • Stewardship – ICU Focus, SCI Focus
    • HIV in Ambulatory Care Clinic
    • Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) Infectious Diseases – virtual rotation with VA National Clinical Pharmacy Program Manager for Infectious Diseases
Longitudinal Activities
  • Teaching/Precepting students and PGY-1 residents
  • One ID Conference presentation (USF ID Podcasts)
  • Two ACPE Grand Rounds presentations
  • Practice Management Rotation
  • Quality Improvement Project (MUE and policy/protocol development)
    • Optional teaching certificate through USF College of Pharmacy
  • Serve one quarter as Resident Manager
Application Requirements
  • Participation in the ASHP Match
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited program
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure in the U.S.
  • Completion or anticipated completion of ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency
  • Completed application materials submitted through PhORCAS WebAdmit
  • GPA > 3.0
  • College Transcript
