Formerly known as the Nursing Home Care Unit and Geriatric Clinics, Haley’s Cove Community Living Center is a 120-bed facility on the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital campus. HCCLC places a high emphasis on rehabilitation through creative arts, kinesiotherapy, occupational therapy, recreation therapy and speech therapy. Besides rehabilitation, they provide hospice, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and long-term care.
Admission to Haley’s Cove for un-registered veterans begins at the Eligibility Office in the main hospital. From there, potential patients should contact an outpatient social worker. The Eligibility Office, located on the first floor in Rm. 1D-101G can be reached by calling (813) 978-5902 or toll-free at (888) 716-7787. Outpatient social workers can be reached by calling (813) 972-2000, ext. 6219. The office is on the first floor of the hospital in Rm. 1A-106P.
Registered veterans (who have their VA red, white and blue photo ID card) may contact the HCCLC admissions coordinator, Janet Roberts, at (813) 972-2000, ext. 7169.
Inpatients are welcome to participate in a number of activities, including a weekly happy hour, residents’ council meetings and themed meals and outings. Facility tours are given upon request during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
