Partners and Education

As a teaching hospital, James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital provides a full-range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research.

Academic Partners

JAHVH is primarily affiliated with the University of South Florida College of Medicine.* We offer residency training in all major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. Associated Health Training is offered in nursing, psychology, audiology, social work, dietetics and pharmacy.

Each year, James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital funds nearly 150 medical resident slots. We also train nearly 400 students in these slots. The hospital is also a training site for medical, nursing and other health care professional students.

Veterans Service Organizations

JAHVH maintains a good working relationship with all of our veteran service organization partners. We regularly brief our VSO representatives on changes impacting veterans' health care.

A Veterans Advisory Council has been established which includes stakeholders from a number of veterans groups. The VAC meets quarterly.

US Department of Defense

As a participant in the US Department of Defense TRICARE Program*, James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital serves as the main referral source for women’s health and orthopedic specialty appointments.
